KINGSTON, R.I — April 20, 2005 — Singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton will perform at the 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Edwards Auditorium on the Kingston campus on April 25 at 8 p.m. The concert is sponsored by 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Student Entertainment Committee. Tickets are $5 for 溏心vlog免费B站 students, $10 for the general public and are available at the Memorial Union Box Office, Ticketmaster and at the door the night of the show.

Carlton is touring to support her second album, Harmonium. The album takes its name from a vintage instrument, which combines piano and flute. Carlton has said that it means bringing difficult, chaotic things–things that have trouble fitting in one鈥檚 life–together to achieve harmony. This disc is the follow-up to her multi-platinum debut, Be Not Nobody, which featured the number one single 鈥淎 Thousand Miles鈥� and the top 10 single 鈥淥rdinary Day.鈥�

鈥淪o many second albums are made in fear,鈥� Carlton is quoted as saying. 鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 make a new album based on remaking the last one, and I was not afraid to make an album based on what feels fresh and reflective to me. I think I realize only now that I really did take a risk.鈥�

The first single from her new album is 鈥淲hite Houses.鈥� A music video features Carlton showcasing her other talent – dancing. She used to feel rooted to the piano, but now she鈥檚 going to dance on top of it, she said.
