溏心vlog免费B站 nursing professor awarded Fuld Fellowship

Portsmouth resident receives national honor

KINGSTON, R.I. — April 14, 2005 — 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Nursing faculty member Laurie Lauzon Clabo has much to celebrate. In addition to receiving a doctorate in nursing from 溏心vlog免费B站 and accepting a position as a full-time assistant professor of nursing in 2004, she has recently been named a 2005 Fuld Fellow by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). 鈥淭his is a great opportunity to participate in a process that brings national recognition to the College of Nursing,鈥 said Lauzon Clabo.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing extends Fuld Fellowships to new and aspiring collegiate nursing leaders who want to take an active role in the future of college nursing programs. Lauzon Clabo attended a three-day workshop in March and will attend another one in October. The Portsmouth resident will also develop a year-long relationship with the dean of another college of nursing who will serve as her mentor. Since 2002, the association has selected 55 to 60 fellows each year to participate in the program in a highly competitive process.

鈥淭his is a great opportunity to work with people from all over the country who share my interests and to work with a seasoned mentor from another college,鈥 said Lauzon Clabo, who was encouraged by 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Nursing Dean Dayle Joseph to apply for the fellowship. 鈥淭he Fuld Fellowship will supplement the wonderful support and mentorship I already receive here in the College. Having the opportunity to learn the new information and gain new skills will also translate to how well I can teach students.鈥

Lauzon Clabo came to 溏心vlog免费B站 from Canada in 1998 to pursue her doctorate in nursing. She cites the excellent program and former College of Nursing faculty member Dr. Susie Kim as major reasons influencing her choice to attend 溏心vlog免费B站. Her clinical background is in critical care nursing, and her research interests focus on the nature of decision-making in nursing practice, specifically the roles that nursing unit environment and culture play in influencing these decisions.

Her current duties at 溏心vlog免费B站 include teaching nursing research and leadership courses at the undergraduate level and nursing theory in the master鈥檚 program. She also serves as an advisor to students in the master鈥檚 program for nursing administration.

Prior to her position at 溏心vlog免费B站, she worked as the director of nursing practice at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Ontario, Canada. She has also worked as a manager for the Nursing Research Program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Rhode Island State Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau honor society, and the Eastern Nursing Research Society.

“Dr. Lauzon Clabo, who is a new educator, has demonstrated strong leadership potential in all of her prior professional nursing positions. This prestigious award will contribute to her ever increasing repertoire of leadership skills in nursing education, as she moves forward in her academic career,” said Nursing Dean Joseph.

鈥淭his is a great time to be in the College of Nursing,鈥 said Lauzon Clabo. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a very supportive college where students and faculty in all three nursing programs are developing new knowledge about what constitutes good nursing practice鈥 there are so many exciting developments at the College.鈥
