Due to the generosity of the late Eleanor M. Carlson, the scholarship provides full in-state tuition and a book allowance to women who are single parents with one or more dependent children. They must be the head of the household.
To be eligible to receive the scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled at or accepted by the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ for the 2005 fall semester. Students who are awarded scholarships may attend classes on äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾’s Kingston and/or Providence campuses. Students may register for either six to nine credits or be enrolled as full-time students. Previous recipients and applicants are eligible to reapply.
Preference will be given to those who meet one or more of the following criteria: candidates who have followed a non-traditional educational track, candidates who demonstrate financial need, candidates in good academic standing, Rhode Island residents, or candidates pursuing a major or minor in women’s studies. In addition, preference is given to qualified undergraduates.

Applications must be postmarked and mailed no later than March 31, 2005. It is expected that three or four scholarships will be awarded. Recipients will be notified by early May.
