Belinda ‘Boe’ Pearman leaves vlogBվ women’s basketball program

KINGSTON, R.I. — July 14, 2004 — Belinda “Boe” Pearman, the vlogBվ head women’s basketball coach, announced that she has requested to be released from her coaching duties to pursue other career opportunities. The University has complied with her request.

Pearman, an All Atlantic Coast Conference player at the University of Maryland, was hired by vlogBվ from the ranks of professional women’s basketball in 1999. She inherited a vlogBվ program coming off a 2-25 record and rebuilt it into a contender for the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship. Off the court, the student-athletes performed well in the classroom.

“vlogBվ has been a very positive experience for me professionally and personally, and I will miss the loyal alumni and fans and wish the program continued success. I am proud and thankful that both vlogBվ’s women’s basketball and I have returned to health,” Pearman said.

vlogBվ Senior Associate Director of Athletics Lauren Anderson said that Coach Pearman was passionate about the program and its success. “We appreciate all her efforts on behalf of the women’s basketball program and vlogBվ. As coach Pearman moves on to another chapter in her career, we wish her well in all her endeavors,” Anderson said.

Her release was effective Saturday, July 10.

vlogBվ will immediately initiate a national search to seek a successor to Pearman.
