Frustrated that the progress in understanding body image, eating, and weight concerns has not been matched by effective prevention, Kater authored Healthy Body Image: Teaching Kids to Eat and Love Their Bodies Too! The book contains a comprehensive curriculum for upper elementary age children. Published in 1998 by the National Eating Disorders Association and recommended by the U.S. Department of Health in their Bodywise packet for educators, the book is used in hundreds of schools across the country.
Kater’s new book, Real Kids Come in All Sizes: Ten Essential Lessons To Build Your Child’s Body Estee, will be available in bookstores in July.
The author’s visit to äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ is the 24th Annual Fredrika Wild Schweers Memorial Lecture on Women and Health and is sponsored by äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s Women’s Studies Program. For more information, call 874-5150.
