溏心vlog免费B站 to present Hugo Wolf
Centennial Celebration concert
KINGSTON, R.I. — March 12, 2003 — The 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Department of Music will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Austrian composer, Hugo Wolf, with a concert on Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m.
The concert, part of the University Artist Series, will feature works by the late composer who was one of the greatest masters of the German Romantic Lied.
Wolf experienced a period of intense activity as a composer, then his life was plagued by illness, depression, and finally insanity until his death in 1903.
Book 1 of Wolf鈥檚 Italienisches Liederbuch will be performed by Margaret Frazier, soprano; Mark Conley, tenor; and Manabu Takasawa, piano. Examples of Wolf鈥檚 chamber choral works will be sung by Lively Experiment, a nine-voice ensemble under the direction of Mark Conley.
The popular Italian Serenade in G will be played by John Dempsey and Daniela Gongora, violins; Ann Danis, viola; and Mark Schroeder, cello. James Ladewig, music historian, will offer commentary about Wolf鈥檚 musical style and legacy.
The concert will take place in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $2 for students. For more information contact 874-2431.
