KINGSTON, R.I. — March 27, 2003 — A career in journalism can take you from the streets of Baghdad to the New England Patriots’ locker room. From your backyard to the front lawn of the White House, the options are limitless. Join the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Journalism Department on Friday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Memorial Union for a high school journalism workshop and learn about all of these exciting career options and more.
The program and lunch are free and open to high school students interested in learning about earning a degree in journalism from äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾, the only such degree-granting program in the state. Topics covered will include reporting, ethics, interviewing, photojournalism, design and much more.
Graduates now working in the fields of reporting, broadcasting, photography, public relations, politics, marketing, and publishing will conduct interactive and informative sessions with students who are preparing now to make important decisions about college and careers. “My journalism degree from äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ has been a tremendous tool that helped me. My career has been fun, exciting and rewarding. When I was back in high school I never would have imagined this is where I would land,” said Steve Greenlee, 1991 äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Journalism graduate and a current Boston Globe editor.
