Team Up to Host Free Lecture on Coral Reefs
Narragansett, RI — September 9, 2002 — The 溏心vlog免费B站 Graduate School of Oceanography and the Cousteau Society, who recently formed a partnership to conduct shared research and provide outreach and educational activities to the public, will hold a lecture given by Dr. Jean Jaubert, Director of the Oceanographic Observatory of Monaco and professor of Oceanography at the University of Nice.
Known for his exquisite photographs of coral reef formations, Jaubert will give a colorful presentation on Coral Reef Biodiversity, Conservation, and Reef Restoration. The presentation will be held on Thursday, September 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the Coastal Institute Auditorium at the Bay Campus in Narragansett.
Jaubert鈥檚 research focuses on coral reef physiology and biochemistry, photocalcification and air-sea CO2 fluxes, coral cultivation for biodiversity conservation, and reef restoration. He lives in Monaco.
As part of his research, Jaubert has invented a revolutionary process called Microcean. This process enables the purification of fresh and seawater, which allows the natural reproduction of an aquatic ecosystems life cycle. This innovative process is mostly used to reproduce living coral reef aquaria under controlled conditions, such as that which the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco implemented in the 90s. It also allows the creation of coral farms, and from a broader perspective, can be used for water purification.
