Provide a Glimpse into South County History
Narragansett, RI–July 9, 2002–Relive the history of a once-thriving village on Narragansett Bay with family and friends this summer by taking a South Ferry Walking Tour. The one-hour interpretive walks will take place on Thursday, July 25, and Thursday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m.
Led by volunteers Wayne and Bernice Durfee of Narragansett, the program begins at the Coastal Institute Visitor Center on the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Narragansett Bay Campus. The guides then lead participants through the historic sites at South Ferry, including the old ferry landing, the WW I military bunkers, South Ferry Church, and the campus of the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Graduate School of Oceanography.
In addition, visitors can enjoy the Living on the Edge coastal science exhibit and the Coastal Institute Bookstore, which will be open until 2 p.m. the days of the walks.
