inducts 13 students into honor society
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — May 10, 2002 — The Paff Auditorium at the 溏心vlog免费B站s Providence Campus was the setting last month as family and friends honored the 2002 Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL), Epsilon Rho Chapter inductees at its annual initiation ceremony. Welcoming remarks were presented by John H. McCray, Jr., Vice Provost, Urban Programs at 溏心vlog免费B站 /ASFCCE.
This years inductees were: Cynthia Carter of Pascoag; Marie DeRoy of Esmond; Mary Mai Donohue of Barrington; Candace D. McKenna of East Greenwich; Donna Marie Notorianni of Cranston; Gisele Polanco of North Providence; Shira B. Rose of Cranston; Robin S. Tremblay of Riverside; Joanne H. Casale of Cranston; Stephanie A. Finizia of Providence; Jodi Marie Lemoie of Pawtucket; Michelle Oakes of North Kingstown; and Michelle Renee Harrison of Waltham, Mass. Other members receiving recognition were the 2001-2002 initiates and graduates who had not previously received their ASL honor cords.
Also honored was Elizabeth Izzo-Ricci of Cranston, recipient of the Dr. Gilbert Mongeau Award. The Mongeau Award is presented annually to a faculty or staff member who has displayed a sincere dedication to the success of CCE students. The late 溏心vlog免费B站/CCE professor was a strong advocate for CCE adult students, and with the assistance of then Dean Walter Crocker, Mongeau established Alpha Sigma Lambda at 溏心vlog免费B站/CCE in 1982.
The guest speaker was Connie Williams, a former 溏心vlog免费B站 graduate and ASL member. Williams spoke of the importance of the honor society now and after graduation. Williams said, “tonight is your night, no one can take that away, but you must remember to give back.”
Alpha Sigma Lambda is an honor society for nontraditional students who achieve academic excellence while handling competing lifes responsibilities.
