Joe Parillo, a jazz pianist who heads the jazz program at äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾, dubs the young piano students “piano kids.” The concert grew out of a request from a parent asking if her child could perform. Parillo began auditioning other talented students recommended by local piano teachers.
“We’ve had faculty, students, and staff members perform this semester at our noontime concerts. I thought, why not children?” said Parillo, noontime concert coordinator. “äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s Music Department wants to encourage their work as musicians. The concert is a great venue to offer them a performance place.”
