This photo (summer 2021) inspired lots of captions. Many could be organized into the following categories:

\u2022 The Three Stooges
\u2022 \u201cShave and a haircut, two bits.\u201d
\u2022 The \u201csnip-snip here, snip-snip there and a couple of tra-la-las\u201d grooming scene from the Wizard of Oz<\/em>

In fact, this photo (dated Dec. 20, 1954) shows Edward Rawdon, äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ barber and honorary alumnus, getting his hair clipped by äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾\u2019s fifth president, Carl Woodward (center, behind Rawdon) and two other men. The February 1955 Alumni Bulletin<\/em> says that Rawdon received the \u201cPresidential Special\u201d hair clipping in celebration of his retirement \u201cafter 50 years of clipping academic heads, among them five Rhody presidents.\u201d The Bulletin<\/em> goes on to say that Rawdon \u201cmade himself a place at the heart of campus that cannot be filled.\u201d \u2022<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
