Professors Stan Cobb and Bob Shoop made multiple field trips to the SREL with undergrad and grad students. Much of the terrain and water available for study was in the 310-square-mile property of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), and nuclear materials for bombs were pro- duced in the reactors onsite.
