After a successful race season, 溏心vlog免费B站 club sailing was ranked 12th in the nation and won four regional awards, including Coach of the Year and all-division team selection. They also secured a spot in the national championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 溏心vlog免费B站 sailing club capped off a successful race season with a trip to the national championship and a handful of regional post-season awards, including Coach of the Year and first-team all-division honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sailing team headed to the Fleet Race National Championship at the end of May in both the open and the women\u2019s divisions, ranked 12th and 28th in the country, respectively. The teams finished in the top five in regattas several times throughout the season, coming out on top twice and finishing second in total points four times. At the nationals, 溏心vlog免费B站’s open team finished 14th in the country during regattas May 25\u201327. The women’s team, while falling short in the semifinals, finished among the top 22 in the country, beating their national ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur fleet racing has had some great highlights,\u201d says first-year coach Joakim Karlsen. \u201cThe boats have been really, really good. They\u2019ve been consistently top 5 at these events, which is really remarkable. I\u2019m super excited for our boats and that the crews are getting the recognition they\u2019re getting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such team success led to individual post-season awards, including for skipper Kerem Erkmen, a junior, named to the All-New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association First Team in the open division, putting him in position to be 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s first All-American sailor since 2017 with a good showing at nationals. Crew member Abby Chipps, also a junior, was named to the All-NEISA Second Team, and graduating senior sailor Miles Williams received the Senior Trophy, which goes to a member of the class \u201cwho has exhibited the best combination of skill and sportsmanship throughout the last four years on NEISA.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karlsen, who took over the team just two weeks before the start of the season last fall, was named Coach of the Year from among the 36 coaches in the division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was unexpected, but very nice. Coach of the Year is voted on by the other coaches, which makes it very humbling,\u201d Karlsen says. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for that recognition, but it\u2019s a recognition for the whole team. The sailors have been really amazing to bring me in, welcome me to the team, and quickly rally around our goals. It\u2019s awarded to me, but it doesn\u2019t work without the sailors, as well as the school and the faculty being involved and supporting the team. If we\u2019re not all into it, we\u2019re not going to do well, and we\u2019re not going to get recognized.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recognition is likely to continue, as most of the team will be returning next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a pretty young team. We\u2019re only graduating one skipper and just one crew member,\u201d Karlsen says. \u201cThey\u2019ll be a big loss to the team, but I\u2019m excited to bring so many sailors back next year. Getting a full year with the whole team together is going to be really exciting. We\u2019ll see what we can do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
